Where the plans are bought
Subscriptions are handled by Google Play inside the Android app, which is where the price is shown in your own currency and where you cancel. The browser version cannot ask Play what you are on, so it does not gate anything at all — write what you like in it. That includes the books: the journal, the chart of accounts, the purchase ledger and all six financial statements are open in the browser and are not a paid tier. That is an honest description of how it works today, not a trial offer with a catch in it.
Your own records are never behind a plan
A cap stops the next invoice. It never stops you opening, printing, exporting or backing up the ones you already made — on any tier, on the free tier, and after a subscription lapses.
- Every invoice you have written stays readable and printable.
- Backup and CSV export are free forever, on every tier.
- Clients, tax rates and payment links are yours, always.
- Lapse and you keep a seven-day grace period before the cap applies again.

The awkward ones, answered
What exactly does the free tier give me?
Fifteen invoices a month, free forever, resetting on the 1st. Not a trial and not a window — it asks the same question every month and never takes the tool away. Everything else on that tier is the real product: clients, tax, payment links, payments, totals, backup and repeating invoices, plus three AI-drafted invoices a month.
What it does not include: quotes and credit notes, and the small “Made with Billkeep” line at the foot of a document.
Why a monthly allowance rather than a trial that expires?
It used to be twenty documents inside three months, which meant the app eventually stopped working for somebody who had done nothing wrong. For an app holding a business's records, going dark is the wrong way to ask to be paid. A monthly allowance asks the same question every month and never takes the tool away.
What happens when I hit the cap?
Billkeep stops you starting a new invoice and says why. Everything already written stays open, printable and exportable. There is no lock screen over your own records at any point.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep the subscription until the period you paid for ends, then there is a seven-day grace period, then the free cap applies to new invoices again. Your records are untouched throughout. Re-subscribing picks up where it left off.
Can I switch tiers?
Yes, and it switches the subscription rather than stacking a second one. Moving up takes effect immediately with the unused part of the old plan credited; moving down takes effect when the period you have paid for ends.
Do I pay again on a new phone?
No. The subscription lives with your Google account. Billkeep checks with Play each time it starts, so a reinstall or a new phone restores it without you hunting for a button.
Is there a refund?
Refunds are Google Play's to make, under Play's own policy — Billkeep never takes the payment and so cannot return it. Play's purchase history has the request form.
Are the books and the financial reports a paid extra?
No. The journal, the chart of accounts, bills and suppliers, bank reconciliation and all six statements are part of the browser version, which is not gated. There is no accounting tier and no per-report charge, and if that ever changes it will be said here first.
Why is the browser version not charged for?
It has no way to ask Play what you are subscribed to, and guessing would be worse than either answer. Rather than invent a second payment system for the web, it stays open. If that changes it will be said plainly here first.
Start on the free tier
No card and no countdown on the screen. Twenty invoices is enough to know whether this is the one.
